Those Lucky People That We Call Terrorists

Those Lucky People That We Call Terrorists

I’m not talking about Muslims

Or the people of the Islamic faith

I am talking about the extremists

Can you imagine what it would feel like to truly believe?

That you were doing

Exactly what God wanted you to do

No questions

No worries

If you didn’t pay your light bill before you left town

You wouldn’t have to feel bad about it

Because you would be doing God’s work

If you accidently killed somebody

You would have no remorse

Because you would believe with all of your heart

that you were doing God’s work.

I’m sure that doing what they do

And living the life they live is very hard

But imagine the focus

And the peace they must feel knowing

that they are working directly for God

always believing they are doing what’s right.

Can you imagine

What it must be like

Living in a foreign country

Doing God’s work

And not having to ever worry about the laws of man

It must be an amazing feeling

Of course

There must be a down side to everything

Imagine if your life’s work

Were to create a shoe bomb

That would blow a hole in a commercial airplane

And you were so completely incompetent

That you couldn’t get it to detonate

Or you were in charge of doing something as simple

as detonating a car bomb in Times Square

and you were so utterly ignorant that you couldn’t even get that right

do you suppose that failing at such a simple task

would make it hard for you to look your God in the eyes

when you finally get there?

I envy the terrorists in some aspects

But I feel that God loves me like a parent loves a child

And I couldn’t even comprehend

What it must be like to worship a vengeful God

I wouldn’t give up the stress of a regular everyday life

For the excitement and peace

Of being a religious fanatic

Who has to fear their God

I’m a former Marine

But after all of these years

I pray for peace

With people of all races and religions
