Exploding Eggs

A few days ago our duck had one of her eggs hatch

I gave the remaining eggs some extra time

But they were starting to smell

So I decided to get them out of her nest

I put them in a plastic grocery bag

And started to carry them out of the gate

There was a loud pop

It was almost as loud as a fire cracker

I figured out what it was right away

The smell was overpowering

I decided to just dump them over the back fence

So they didn’t get all over me

Another one popped on the way back there

I was getting nervous

And a bit nauseous

I was carrying about ten little exploding stink bombs

I dumped the remaining eggs over the fence

And they all popped

Amazed, I stood there a second too long

A cloud of stench engulfed me

I dropped the bag, turned to go, and didn’t look back

I was close to chunking

I made it out without getting sick

But I am still amazed

I had no idea eggs could explode
