The Edge of Forever

We stand on the edge of forever

as we ask god please

and we dance with the devil every chance we get

if you've ever had the courage and desperation to sell your soul

you know that there are no takers

and the devil never comes

were left standing

empty and alone

with our last option gone

maybe the devil doesn't ever buy a soul

maybe just getting you to offer

shows God your unworthy

and the devil gets the prize for no money down

dreams that are only fantasy

drive us to despair

the devil need not get involved

dreams without plans are destine to fail

desire and determination

mean nothing without a plan

fall to your knees

cry out to God

but don't you ever expect God to cut in

when your dancing with the devil.

Real or not

the devil has power

we give him his strength

by doing what we know to be wrong

this creates decay

in our mind, our body

and in everything around us

I is we

as the decay grows

into an entity all its own

it slowly eats us from the inside out

and teaches us to hate the light

sleep overcomes

and we float away

into a world of pure energy

wiping the record clean

only to start tomorrow

with the lack

of means

to change our path

because we only have dreams

instead of goals
