Denying Gifts from God

We are about 3 days from getting our lights turned off

And I’m sure our trailer insurance has been canceled by now

I can’t pay my taxes

And we really don’t have any food in the house for the adults

We have food for the kids

And if push comes to shove

There is always the emergency beans and pasta

Tonight as I was driving home from work

There was a deer lying in the middle of the road

I know it hadn’t been there even two hours

Because I drove past the same spot on my way to work

And considering where the deer was laying

I bet it had been there less than a half hour

I wanted to stop and put it in the trunk of the car

How foolish was I

A gift from God

Denied

It would have been perfectly legal

I had my phone

And I have the sheriffs number in it

they don’t even have to come out and tag it here

you just call in

and it’s yours.

At least 50 pounds of meat

Maybe someone needed it more than us

I hope so

I will feel terrible if it is lying by the side of the road in the morning.

I feel like a fool
