To Stand in the Shadow of Ignorance

I have spent my whole life learning

I have gotten to a place where I understand

that in the grand scheme of things

I know nothing

I am able to learn

because I don't limit myself

by prejudging or preconceived notions

There are no sacred cows

everything is open to discussion

there is no absolute

there is no correct answer

In a Dream

I have stood before the possibility of God

what I saw

what I heard

what I understood

was for me

and me alone

these people

man

these people

which ones? You ask

you know them

they believe that there is only one answer

they believe that there is only black and white

it hurts

when I am around them

it truly hurts

to see such a waste

these people were given minds

that are truly limitless

yet they are afraid to use them

they are trapped

their theories on the world

are reinforced by the small minded group of people

that they surround themselves with

they hear the programming repeated

over and over

the problem is

that they are so afraid

of not being in control

that they have to

reach out and try to control everyone around them

they don't know

they can't know

yet they believe so strongly

that there way is the only way

heaven has streets of gold

Noah put panda bears, poler bears and kola bears on the same boat

simple possibilities are fact to them

they say that Muslims and Christians

worship a different god

even though both the Koran and the Bible

talk about

the garden of eden

Abraham

Cain and Able

Noah

Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah

Joseph

Moses

David and Goliath

Jonah and the Whale

there are many other points where the two books talk about the same things

yet the narrow minded see only what they want to see

or what they are told to see

Religion aside

the shallow, narrow people

do their best

to get all of us to believe the way that they do

so much in fact

that it gets to be so unpleasant

to be around them

I stand before God,

Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah, The Goddess

whatever you choose to call the higher power

if in fact it exists at all

I stand humbly

not in fear

but with respect

with a longing to be taught

I thirst for knowledge

I use the title of God

without putting a name behind it

and I drop to my knees

asking for understanding

requesting that I have the courage to open up my mind

leaving behind all prejudices and preconceived notions

asking to leave behind anything that will hinder my learning

God

please give me all of the compassion

all of the understanding

and all of the knowledge

that I am able to comprehend at this moment

in hopes that it will help me grow

into someone

that can eventually handle more knowledge

I am ready

whenever you think that I am worthy

to come home

but until then

I will stay here

and soak up as much knowledge as possible

in hopes that I won't have to do it all again

and I will finally be worthy

of reaching the next world

whatever it may be.
