Memories of what once was
Day by day little bits of the places
that formed our memories crumble leaving only the memories.
These memories are perceived

The never-ending evolution of the
world that we once loved is unavoidable;
our perception of its deterioration

When something that we love is consumed
in an afternoon,
it brings the realization of just how
small we are in this infinite universe that we call home.
Our own mortality rises up,
if only for an instant,
shattering our illusion of safety.
We return to life but we wear the
change in the lines of our face and in the depths of our eyes.
