High School Decisions

We dream so many dreams

When were not the star quarterback

Or the head cheerleader

Those of you that dreamt of making those pay

That made your high school days hell

The gun seemed like the answer

But it isn’t as satisfying

As seeing the cheerleader

That you weren’t good enough for

Sitting in the bar

While her child sleeps in her truck outside the bar

Just wait my dear friends

Vigilantism isn’t the answer

Time is on our side

As everything they hoped and planned for,

 crumbles at their finger tips

Let them have today

For tomorrow is the assault rifle of yesterday

And the day to day grind

Of tomorrow

Wears down their self righteous souls

And grinds it into the powder of resentment

Letting them live is more punishment

Then taking their lives now

The pain of reality

Will do the work for you.
