Michigan Friends, I accept your choice

I have wasted a lot of energy trying to help people that aren't interested in being helped. I officially have washed my hands of trying to get my mom out of Michigan. She has always embraced pain and suffering, I refuse to do it.

Its hard knowing that living there is a choice that anyone would make but I guess that it is just easier for me to see the coming storm since I have been away from there for so long.

My interpretation of living in a place where they have passed a law that states that the basic American freedom of voting in your local officials has been suspended just screams out to me "WRONG".

The fact is that nobody really cares. Most Americans have developed a victim mentality and they think that they can't change anything. It sickens me. Our United States Declaration of Independence demands that we question the actions of government, yet Michigan has taken away the right to vote for local officials. I have tried to inspire my friends in Michigan to stand up and to get out of there; I officially wash my hands of it.

From now on I consider my friends and families choice of continue to live in Michigan the same as a woman choosing to stay with an abusive man. I don't have the energy to help those that refuse to see the truth of their situation. It isn’t even my right to try and force them to change their situation. In order to conserve my mental energy, I wash my hands of it.

I understand that my friends never asked for my help and I attribute that to them being in the midst of everything that is going on up there and not being able to see the whole picture. That is the same reason that an abused woman stays in her situation, even when someone offers her a hand up and out, she is still reluctant. She is afraid of change and after all he said he wouldn’t do it again, didn’t he? The spin is very strong in both cases but it is still nothing more than a way to control someone.

The rallies at the Capital will slowly taper off as the elderly just accept their tax increase.   As schools are consolidated people will get upset but will be told that they can’t do anything about it. As neighborhoods are taken over, as the new law says the government is allowed to do, people will be reluctant but they will comply because they will be told that it is the only way that they can keep out the gangs and the drugs. All of this will go on and it will all be ok because it is a law and laws are ok, just remember this, back in World war 2, it started with a few signs in the store windows, it started with a few lies, it started with blocking off a few Jewish towns, but it ended with tours of people looking at piles of decaying hair in a former holocaust death camp and even today there are those that deny it even happened.

Dear friends, I care about you and I have a place where you can come to get away from the state that has declared financial martial law, which is only one step away from complete martial law, but I will no longer try to get any of you to move here. I accept your choice and I am moving on.  In the future if you show up here I will give you a place to stay but please don’t ask me to help later on. I’ve tried already.
