Nobody is willing to help the children

I sit and look in to the tear filled eyes of a young mother

She types on the computer

Reading the words of yet another person that said they would help

But decided to back out when the hard part came

A victim is a victim

It’s a life choice

They have the ability to stand up and finally hit their tormentor where it hurts

But they chose not to

Knowing in their heart that their choice will put children in harm’s way

As this decision puts two children back into the home

of a man that could hurt them at any minute

I wonder what goes through the mind of someone

that could put a child in harm’s way

just because the road got difficult.

Today is a sad day

What will we tell the little ones

When it comes time to send them back to his house?

Will we tell them that nobody cared enough to help them?

Will we hold them when they cry?

When a little one tells you that their legs were shaking

Just seeing their dad at the school

How do you tell them that they are going to have to go to his house?

If one day we get the call

And we hear that their not with us anymore

Do just say, I tried, and hope that we see them in Heaven?

Or do we drop to our knees

Unable to breathe

Asking God why?

I believe that day is coming

Without witnesses that are strong enough to stand up for the children

They will go back to his home.

Someday we will get that call.

Today

Is a sad day
