The Qualities that you Desire.
Tonight I speak
To myself
But if you want to listen
Pull up a chair
Sit right down
I’ll begin in just a minute
In my opinion
It doesn’t matter by what name you call god
Or what path fits you best
I believe that if
You do your best
To live by what you believe
Things will work out for you
In ways that you could never have imagined
The following words are called the serenity prayer
“God Grant me the serenity To accept the things I cannot change
The courage to change the things that I can
And the wisdom to know the difference”
These words are the key to success in life
We only have a limited amount of time
and a limited amount of energy each day
We can waste the time and energy that we have
On blaming others for our problems,
Worrying about the presidents birth certificate,
The national debt,
Or even terrorism.
It is our choice,
Our privilege as Americans to do that.
We can even hold anger and resentment towards
a co-worker that got a promotion
that we thought that we were going to get.
If you were to add up the time and energy that you wasted
On thinking about things that we cannot change
You would be amazed
Let it go
Most of our anger is based on misconceptions anyway
We may never know it
But they are
Maybe we weren’t even being considered for the promotion
Maybe the President really wasn’t born an American citizen
and the hundreds of people that are in the top offices in our country
were just to incompetent to figure out a way to prove it.
Maybe the person that cut in line in front of us did it intentionally
More than likely
All of these situations had some level of miscommunication
Everybody sees things differently
The point that I’m trying to make is
That we can waste our precious time and energy
Being angry about something that we cannot change
Or we can change the things that are within our power to change
We can’t fix the national debt
It isn’t within our power
We can vote for people that we feel can handle that problem
But after the votes are cast
Its out of our hands again
Let it go
Its called delegation of authority
We hire public officials to work for us
Let them do their job
If you find out that they can’t do the job
And you have the power to get them fired
Then do it
If not
Don’t spend the energy on a worthless cause
Spend it learning how the successful people do things
And that’s another thing
I see so many people that basically emulate their parents
Or they believe what they are told by a person in a position that they respect.
Quest things
If your parent busted their butt their whole life
or ended up working till the day they died
you can respect them
but for Gods sake
don’t emulate them
I respect the hell out of my grampa
But he worked his whole life
And basically traded his healthy body
For a used up body and a few dollars
I appreciate his work ethic
But I’m not going to live like that
I could put that much energy in to a job that pays
3 times as much money for a third of the work
I know a man that got up before the son every day of his life
He doesn’t even own the property that he lives on
He is old and all used up
He still gets up every day
Before the sun does
And he will look at you like your worthless if you sleep in on the weekends
Even if you already have three times more things than he does.
My point is
You don’t have to disrespect a parent or acquaintance that is like that
But you surely don’t want to emulate them
Find a person that has what you want
Study them
Find a person that can succeed when the economy is down
And study them
Don’t waste your time blaming the president because you lost your job
Instead
Become the most valuable employee that the company has
And you will be the last one let go
Better yet
Study the people that don’t work for anybody else
Find out how they make their money
Search out and emulate the winners
And don’t waste your time and energy
On anything that you can’t change.
Take charge of your life
Believe in yourself
You can accomplish anything that you are physically able to do.
