Battle Mode
Battle Mode
(I have with held the lawyers name out of respect for him. If you know who it is please keep it to yourself)
Today a lawyer threw everything that he had at me about my writing
He didn’t have anything at all that was really worthy of being mentioned in court
So he started nit-picking my writing
Thinking that I would just be some uneducated weakling
That would cower at his questions
I did not.
He took parts out of my blogs
Conveniently forgetting the beginning
and the ending paragraphs that explained the reasons behind my words.
He tried to make me look bad on the stand
The problem was
That he is so used to being a lawyer
That fights for the rights of abusive men
He’s so used to doing a job
that any normal person would be ashamed to do
that he had no idea
what dealing with somebody
that had real honor and integrity was like.
I have spent my life trying to do good
and standing up for what I believe is right
He expected me to crack
I did not
Or be ashamed of my writing and my childhood
I am not
I survived a world that he could never comprehend
Half of it was because of people like him
Lawyers that get the bad guys and the wife beaters out of trouble
Today’s case aside
If it weren’t for those types of lawyers
More women would come forward
More abuse victims would come forward
More rape victims would come forward
And fewer children would go through hell every day
They would come forward because
they wouldn’t be afraid that their attackers would be released.
I look at lawyers
that choose to defend the men
who hurt women and children
as a lower life form than the actual abuser.
I pity their wives and children
that secretly watch the newspapers
hoping that they won’t read
about a dead woman or child that
their husband or father
put in harm’s way
by manipulating the system
I pity them because they have to worry every day
What their friends think about their fathers actions.
The bad guys will be defended
A good man doesn’t have to sell himself
Piece by piece
Defending abusers and rapists
There are plenty of lawyers willing to do those jobs
I stood in front of a man today that was far better than that
He is really selling himself short
He could choose to defend the people that get hurt
He doesn’t have to try to make up something out of nothing
to make an innocent man look bad
so his client looks better
Mr. Lawyer, if you’re reading this
This part is for you
You asked me about battle mode
You asked what it was
Here it is in a nutshell
(The civilian version)
Battle mode is
Adrenaline
It’s a rapid heart beat
Its every hair on your neck and arms sticking straight out
Battle mode is tunnel vision
Its seeing your opponent,
And only your opponent
Seeing him clearly
Its noticing every time his eyes meet yours
that he looks away
Because he doesn’t believe in what he is doing
Its watching for the tell tale signs
Twitches
Swallowing a little harder than normal
And the general uneasiness that comes with realizing
that he picked a fight with a lion when he was only expecting a mouse
Sir,
Battle mode
Is 110% focus
It’s being willing to go balls to the wall
Giving up everything that you own
To defend someone
Or something
That you believe in with all of your heart
It’s being willing to do everything short of breaking the law
or compromising your morals
to do what you know is right.
Battle mode is what you witnessed today, sir
And I really hope that you read this
Because you deserve to experience it
You deserve to feel what it’s like
to feel the energy and passion flowing through you
Because you are doing exactly what you believe to be right.
I don’t consider today a loss
Because I gave everything that I had inside of me defending what I believed to be right
I also don’t consider what you did a win.
Sir
A win is a feeling that happens
When you gave your all
The final score means nothing when the game is over
Because competing against others is meaningless
You have won if you pushed yourself harder and further than you ever have before
even if your score at the end of a game isn’t as high as your opponents
you sir deserve to feel what battle mode feels like
I implore you
Please stop fighting for the side that you’re fighting for
Stop taking cases that you aren’t proud to take
Stand up for those who can’t defend themselves
Even if it means a pay cut
You will feel something
that will be a million times more powerful
than anything that you have ever felt in your life
You’ll be able to look people in the eye and hold your head up high
You will have a sense of pride
And you will never have to worry about your family reading the newspaper
And seeing the victims of somebody that you defended.
Think about this
Johnnie Cochran got OJ off
We all know that OJ killed his wife
Johnnie Cochran is one hell of a lawyer
But he is an embarrassment to his fellow man
Your better than the job that you’re doing sir
I could see it in your eyes
And I’m a pretty good judge of character.
You deserve to feel what battle mode is
And you’ll never understand it
Doing a job that you don’t believe in
You’re a good man
But you’re doing a job that you know isn’t right.
