I Stood In Front of God Today


I stood in front of God today

I did it in a dream

I asked him "why did they all go away?"

he smiled down at me

because, my son

You are the one

the only one

that walks your path your way

the others ones

they loved you dear

but they had their own journey

they stayed with you

long as they could

but I sent them on their way

because you, my son

you are the only one

that walks your path your way.

I asked him

would you, please God,

give me somebody to love,

to stand beside,

to sleep beside

and to hold on to every day

He smiled at me

all peaceful like

and all that he would say

is you have your own journey

and that journey starts today

because you, my son

are the only one

that walks your path your way

I looked down

a tear came to my eye

I'm all alone down here

and I'm afraid

and I'm lonely

and my heart aches so

does this mean I'll never have a love again?

I looked up into Gods eyes

and felt totally at peace

He said to me that there is a price

to get into heaven

and your price is an aching heart

you have to feel a certain amount of pain

to reach an understanding

of the world around you

I looked down

the empty feeling returned

I asked him

with a heavy heart

If I was the only one

To my surprise

his answer came

and this he said to me

each of them have their own path

and their own price to pay

the prices come in many forms

each has their bill to pay

but you, my son

are the only one

that walks your path your way.
