Daydreams of Mice and Men

Daydreams of Mice and Men

And again

I fade back into my day dreams

The white mice sing

Stroke, Stroke

In response to nugget

Who is standing on the bow of the boat

Nugget calls out

Stroke me, stroke me

And again the white mice

Who are all rowing in unison

Sing back

Stroke, Stroke,

Nugget sounds exactly like Billy Squire

And though it puzzles me for a minute

I realize that I always knew

that she would sound that way

We glide across the lake

This time it isn’t made of chocolate

But of water

I can see down into the depths

We are being followed by dozens of little fish

All of which look just like Nemo

And they are all swimming to the rhythm of the song

Their little fins all

Move as one.

I am skinny and shirtless

And the sun is making my skin red

I have no idea how long we have been out here

But the wind on my face feels so good.

I dip the fingers of my right hand into the cool water

and electric waves climb up my arm

making me shiver.

I lean over backwards

And fall into the water like a scuba diver

I sink

Down

Down

Down

The little Nemo fish surround me

And all together

They sing

Stroke, Stroke

I hadn’t noticed before but they were singing

Just as the white mice were singing.

I look around

And breathe normally

And I examine my surroundings

                                 There is a coral reef

As beautiful as a painting

The colors are all vivid and alive

I can hear them

I say

I’ve read about this

To the Nemos

And they giggle

And then without warning

They sing out

Stroke, Stroke

A moray eel

Sticks its head out of an opening in the coral

And in a bass voice

He says

"Better listen now. it ain't no joke
Let your conscience fail ya, just do the stroke"

Nuggets voice rings clear from the surface

"Don'tcha take no chances keep your eye on top
Do your fancy dances you can't stop you just stroke me,
stroke me"

The white mice and the Nemos

Sing out in unison

Stroke, Stroke

I look to my left

And Steinbeck’s Lenny

Sings out

In a beautiful falsetto voice

"Tell me again George

How I get to tend the rabbits"

And Nugget sings

"Say you're a winner but man you're just a sinner now"

Lenny turns to me and says

In a clear voice

"Look now my friend"

And we both float to the surface

We float on our backs

Staring up into the clouds

Lenny says

"Behold"

As the clouds open up

And the suns golden rays

Form a road of gold

It reaches down into the water

And tickles my feat as it grows

I take a step

And Lenny walks with me

We walk past the clouds

The road seems to go on forever

And we walk past scenes of the holocaust

Hiroshima

Nagasaki

All of the atrocities of war

Men clubbing baby seals

Women being raped

Children being killed

Starving villages

Deaths of all kinds and descriptions

I turn to Lenny

And he says to me in a very intelligent voice

"The Evils of mankind"

A tear comes to my eye

As Lenny touches my shoulder

And the road becomes a slide

And we scream like children

And giggle like little girls

As all of the horror is forgotten

We slide

At great speed

Toward the cool lake below

We slide

For what seems like hours

Waves of orgasms

Wash over me

As the joys

Of all of mans atrocities

Are reversed

And it overwhelms me

Consciousness fades

And I wake in my own bed

Soaked with sweat

And mentally drained

There is a white mouse standing on my dresser

Wearing only a pair of black sunglasses

And drinking from a miniature can of coke.

He smiles at me

And then just fades away.

Lyrics from Billy Squire’s "The Stroke"

Nemo was from the "Finding Nemo" movie

Lenny as well as part of my title was from Steinbeck’s "Of Mice and Men"

If I have over stepped my bounds by taking liberties

with anything else it was unintentional.

The character Nugget is my own lovable baby chick.

I meant for the Tenders to appear here

but the story turned in a way that just didn’t support that.

Take care my friends

and in the words of Bill and Ted

Be excellent to each other

Now, my friends, maybe you can understand why I don't do drugs. They would just be a waste of money. I'm already there and it didn't cost me a penny. Take care, my friends.

    Thanks for reading.
