Thank you Mr. Preacher Man

About three years ago

I was going to a local church

I hadn’t made the break from Christianity yet

I knew that something felt wrong about it

But I still liked how I felt in church sometimes.

After one of the regular preachers got up in front of us

I was feeling pretty good

All full of love and kindness

Then the main preacher stood up

He gave his sermon

It has a hate filled

Anti homosexual

We have to crush these people

Kind of sermon

That was the last day that I’ve ever been to church

I just want to thank him

I’m not a homosexual

In fact I’m married

But the problem was

That this man stood up in front of people that trusted him

And he preached hate to them

I think that the worst part of the whole thing

Was that everybody in that room

Accepted his hate speech

And if they didn’t

They pretended to

So they would be accepted by their friends

That was the last time that I looked at Christianity

as being acceptable

That preachers actions

Gave me the courage to stand up

And look for some other belief system

I want to thank him with all of my heart

Mr. Preacher Man

You changed my life

I could never repay you for what you’ve done for me

Even though I didn’t go all of the time

I wanted to walk away from church for years

I have found a belief system that is based on

perfect love and perfect trust

It is centered on the core belief that we

Harm none

My life has blossomed and grown

So much

Over the last 3 years
