Dancing to the Rhythm of the Sea
Tumbling into darkness
falling in to the never never
life seeps in to every pore
drowning my dreams
I wake
coughing up bits of reality
gasping for air
Tomorrows new day
Tainted by yesterdays filth
Lifeblood spills
on to the steps
that descend into madness
Ivory castles
Promises of hope
Illusions by madmen
That only want our money
Starving homeless children
Hundred thousand dollar Rolex
Educated
Uneducated
Dance with me darkness
Reaping must take a lot out of you
Does it ever end
Is there a vacation in your future
When it’s my turn
I’ll bring the soda
Maybe I can make you smile as you do your job
It must be hard
Always the bearer of sad news
Talk to me oh tree of life
Shade me with your branches
Feed me with your fruit
Just no apples please
I don’t like clothes
How many times must we do the same things
before we learn that there are other ways
waves wash on the beach
dancing corps
fluid motion
snack for crustaceans
somebody’s shattered dreams
reflect in your lifeless eyes
when we think of murderers
we see malicious acts
we see helpless victims
we may even see the pain of their death
but do we ever stop to think about
the mother’s day card in her purse
the excitement that she had
when she found just the right card
do we think about her anticipation
of the birthday party that she’ll never see
do we ever think about the point where her excitement
turned to blind terror
as bile crept up her throat
do we ever wonder about what she was thinking
do we stop and see the victim
as anything more than an unfortunate soul
why is it that we don’t step in to those last moments
is it our fear of our own mortality
do we fear the reaper
or just the unknown of what happens next
A killer takes
He takes
He takes life
He takes dreams
He takes future memories
Motherless children
Unaware of mommies pain and fear
Snuggled up in their beds
Heartbreak poised for the mornings attack
One moment in a life
That changes everything
Forever
All because one person
Decided to take what wasn’t theirs
Lifeless body
She dances to the rhythm of the sea
Tears of the little ones
stain pillows
For many nights to come.
