Breast Cancer Posts

To all of you that are posting things

about breast cancer awareness

I took care of Laura for the last year of her life

She die in our bed next to me

I awoke to an a situation that changed my life forever

Within the next few months

I took every pill in the house

I was in a coma for 2 ½ weeks

I won’t repost your posts

But I lived the horror of breast cancer

I sat with her through her kemo treatments

I held her while she was puking

You can treat it as a game

You can post anything you want

But it really doesn’t matter

until you wake up next to someone that you love

that’s heart has stopped beating.

When you reach over

And in your hear you know they’re gone

But you have to check anyway

You feel their arm

Looking for a pulse

And their muscles are squishy

There is no pulse

Marine or not

You break down hysterically

When you call 911

You played it over in your mind hundreds of times

You know you’re going to be calm and cool about it

But when that call is made

You break down

In a fit of tears and sadness

I understand the tributes

I understand what it means

But every time I see it

I relive the night of the rain

The spinning lights

The strangers coming to take my love away

It isn’t a game to some of us

Its real

And its life changing.
