High Definition day dreams

Shatter the cover of the abyss

Our little world

Is just one piece

But to me it’s everything

The outside world calls to me today

But I can’t face it

Civilization by definition

Is misleading and wrong

How do genocide and mass murder

Fall under that heading

Today I missed class

I couldn’t handle the closeness

with so many people

I would lock my door forever

Against the civilized world

If I could

I would stay in my home

With only my family

Never seeing another human

For as long as I live

If only it were possible

It isn’t them

It’s me

I can’t handle the pain of deception

The looks

The whispers

I’m the one that doesn’t belong

I never have

I don’t want to

To be part of a civilization

That has a history of genocide

Is  unacceptable to me

Their justification

They said they were heathens

They said they were uncivilized

I just see it differently

To me the civilized ones

were killed by the animals

What’s it matter

It happened so many years ago

It was a different time

A different world

And besides

They weren’t Christian so it didn’t count

I can’t go out today

I can’t be around the blind ones

They only see it for the good

They hide the atrocities of their religion

And they put me down

Because I don’t want to be one of them.

I can’t go out today

I can’t go out in to that world

I can’t go out

But I must

When will they stop

pushing their beliefs on others

why can’t we all just get along

we could agree to disagree

we could keep church and state separate

but that’s only the law

why would we expect them

to start following the laws now

after so many murders

so many tortures

The Native Americans life style

was destroyed

Galileo was put on house arrest

for suggesting that the Earth

wasn’t the center of the universe

So many were tortured

and killed in the name of God

during the inquisition

so many more

were killed

to spread the word of God

Will it ever end

When is enough enough

I can’t go out today

I can’t face the sheep today

I can’t go out

But I must go out.
