Maddening Exhaustion

The tired seeps in to my bones

It takes everything that I have

To keep going

Heavy eyes

Tired arms

I struggle just to stay awake

Today

My wife is going to the big town

She is getting the stuff for our Thanksgiving dinner

I want to go with her

I want to go out and eat as a family

I want to enjoy the drive

But I’m curling up in the blankets

Regretting my decision to stay here

But unable to get up and go

I’m so tired

I tell myself

Just an hour

One hour

I only need a little nap

But it is every day now

And the naps last longer and longer

I am so tired

Life is passing me by

I must sleep now
