Where I stand on women's rights
Where I stand on women's rights
We are watching Night at the museum, battle for the Smithsonian.
Amelia Earhart was explaining how she was the first woman to fly across the
Atlantic as well as several other accomplishments.
The thought that came to my mind was big deal, what do genitals have to do with
your ability to fly. I understand that at the time women were looked at
differently but I'm kind of happy that, that was my first thought. I see women
in the same way that the boys on South Park saw the black person on their flag.
It had been so long since race was a real issue that they didn't see the man on
the flag as being black, they just saw him as a man.
I see women the same way for the most part. When it comes to flying, shooting,
driving, using bulldozers, welding, or anything like that I just see a person
doing a job.
I think that we have come a long way with both race and equality of the sexes.
I think it would be cool to see what comes to pass in a couple hundred years.
Of course my ideas are a bit different when it comes to men and women spending
long hours together at work. I wish there were a way to have one shift of male
workers and one shift of female workers. I know of several marriages that were
ruined because of those long hours. That has nothing to do with either sex's
ability though.
